Easy listening (sometimes called mood music) is a type of mostly instrumental popular music that is designed to be relaxing and soothing and to serve mainly as background music. It consists mostly of arrangements of popular songs, movie music and some jazz that make extensive use of strings and have a relatively slow tempo.
