Resonant Frequency Definition

Resonant frequencies, also called resonance frequencies, are the natural frequencies at which it is easiest to get an object to vibrate. Most objects have multiple resonant frequencies, and musical instruments typically vibrate at harmonics of their fundamental frequency. Although objects can be made to vibrate at other frequencies, such frequencies require much more energy, including a continuous input of energy, to maintain them than do resonant frequencies.
