Pitch Height Definition

Pitch height refers to how low or high a pitch sounds. How a note sounds to a person is determined by both its chroma and its height. For example, middle C and the C one octave above it (designated by C4 and C5) sound very similar, and have the same chroma, except that C5 has a greater pitch height. All notes have different heights, but all notes in the same pitch class have the same chroma.
