A piano quintet is a quintet that consists of a piano, most often together with a string quartet, usually consisting of two violins, a viola and a cello. Among the most notable such pieces is Schubert's Piano Quintet in A Major (Trout Quintet), which was written for a piano, one violin, a viola, a cello and a double bass.
