Orchestrator Definition

An orchestrator is a person who creates orchestration. In the common practice period, composers generally orchestrated their own works as an integral part of their composing, and often a composer's unique orchestration style was a major feature of their work. However, in much or most music composed in recent decades, such as movie music and musicals, orchestration is often or mostly performed by specialist orchestrators based on the melodies and other ideas provided by the composers.
