An electronic keyboard, also called a digital keyboard or a portable keyboard, is a musical instrument that has a piano-like keyboard but produces sound through the use of built-in electronic circuitry. Electronic keyboards are capable of recreating a wide range of instrument sounds in addition to (piano, such as organ, violin, cello, French horn and oboe. They are usually designed for home users and beginners. The more expensive models feature weighted and velocity-sensitive keys similar to those on a traditional piano, improved sound, and a sound editing capability that lets users create sounds unavailable with conventional acoustic instruments.
