Double Concerto Definition

A double concerto is a concerto that features two solo performers, in contrast to the usual single solo performer of conventional concerti. The two performers' instruments may be of the same type, such as two violins or two pianos, or different types, such as a violin and a cello or a violin and a piano. Most concertos performed today are solo concertos, but double concertos used to be very popular with both composers and performers.
