Conjunct Motion Definition

Conjunct motion, also called a step, is the difference in pitch, or the interval, between two consecutive notes of a musical scale. In a major scale or any of its modes, conjunct motion will always be a movement of one or two semitones. Any larger interval is referred to as disjunct motion, also called a skip. Melodies can be described by their patterns of conjunct and disjunct motion.
