Numu21.org provides a simple, compact, and easy-to-use introduction to contemporary art music (also sometimes called "contemporary classical music") and its composers. It also has the goal of finding and providing exposure for contemporary composers who are not yet well known but may deserve to be. Given the very large number of composers living today (thousands), it is likely that there are still some with extraordinary ability that are waiting to be discovered.
This project emerged from the desire of a few people to learn something about contemporary music. They had long been music lovers but realized that they knew close to nothing about works composed in the late 20th and early 21st century. This ignorance was due not only to their typically very busy home and work schedules, but also to their former belief — and a very widely held one — that little worthwhile music has been written in recent decades.
Numu21 a collaborative project staffed entirely by volunteers. It needs your help to continue to grow and improve. You can contribute in various ways, including:
- Suggesting additional composers that should be included
- Suggesting improvements in content and writing style (including pointing out errors)
- Making a donation
